So why do sex parties always play boring techno in slow motion?
Probably so no one will actually notice the music. Unlike and indie rock party where people constantly run off in the middle of cenversations "because I HAVE to dance to this one" or become unsociable and go sulk for three minuttes "because this song just reminds me of HIM!"
But next weekend I'm hired as a DJ for an INDIE ROCK SEX PARTY! (I hear people actually dance as well)
So I thought I'd ask the experts here: What would be the perfect most disturbing indie tunes to spin?
I'm sure it would cause a giggle if there's some wild orgy going on, and I put on Pulp's "Do You Remember The First Time?"
Or if a couple is just slowly starting to get it off, and out bursts "Rape Me" by Nirvana...
I'm sure there are even better ones... give me some good picks!

Re: Indie Sex Party Soundtrack?
Thu, May 1, 2008 - 4:13 PMIn the movie Shortbus (somewhat, in a round about sort of way, about a sex club) there is a delighful amount of Animal Collective music, though they are not the first sort of music that pops into my head....maybe something "Broken Social Scene"?

Re: Indie Sex Party Soundtrack?
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 6:54 PMI always thought DFA 1979 was good fucking music. Maybe that and some Bikini Kill perhaps? The Gossip maybe? Karen Finley would be awesome for some old school late 80s industrial-disco flavor.
I wanna go to an indie sex party! -

Re: Indie Sex Party Soundtrack?
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 11:22 PMOh and another MUST... Once the sex is flowing...the coke is snorted and Meth has been floating in the air for a good hour...and there's been some good sodomizing.... you of course want to prep the climax. I would think (never Dj'd a sex party) you would want to follow the format of what is Human sex... Foreplay... Sex.....Post orgasmic chill. Somewhere betwixxx Sex and Post orgasmic chill you must play CAN- Mary, Mary so Contrary.
This will make you seem not only hip... but will be a stonerish nod to old fags in the crowd sucking dick younger than their last grown pubic hair.
Can's Mary,Mary is sensual CLASSIC and is epic...and meant for sex..... if you dont have it i have it. Play it...you'll get raves...trust! -

Re: Indie Sex Party Soundtrack?
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 3:47 PMThe short version here: Not a great show up, and most seemed to only relate to the last two third of "indie sex party"...
Due to technical problems there was no "Mary, Mary" either (but honsestly Jack, who else actually uses music in WMA format!?)
However, when those who came for sex had come and then left, we were around ten people who had a nice intense underwear dance party to some classics from when I was 13...
At the end I was once again confirmed that Pale Saint's debut LP "Comfort of Madness" has a serious overlooked potential as RAVE music! (and it keeps advancing on my best album even list...) I'm thinking that a party ending with 10 boys raving in underwaer to 4AD shoegaze can never be a total disaster! -
